Former chaplain says he was fired, denied money by Tufts

Imam Noureddine Hawat plans to sue university for thousands of dollars

Tufts' former Muslim Chaplain Noureddine Hawat says that he was forced to resign against his will last spring and that Tufts owes him thousands of dollars for campus renovations he helped fund. He plans to sue the university. In an interview with the Daily, Hawat disputed the claims of University Chaplain David O'Leary, who told the Daily in October that Hawat had voluntarily left Tufts to accept a new position at a Vermont mosque. Dance Marathon registration concludes; Senate making final plans

Event has raised $2,500 so far; organizers optimistic about reaching fundraising goal of $10,000 by April 4

The Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate has finalized the teams for next month's Dance Marathon, and is in the midst of final preparations. "We have approximately 40 teams registered," said Deborah Block, the Senate's Special Projects Committee chair, who has worked to organize the charity event. (0) comments

Harvard Professor Cutler discusses his research on health care in the United States

Harvard professor David Cutler discussed his book, "Your Money Or Your Life: Strong Medicine for America's Health Care System," last night, which argues that the U.S. health-care companies could charge less money for the benefits they provide. His book sought to investigate why health-care prices have recently risen so dramatically and consistently, and whether the extra benefits health-care providers have added warrant the extra charges.
